#saintsaens: “We love Saint-Saëns.” Saint-Saëns-Tok: Between Intrinsic Participation and Music Education
This article explores a reference from the analog world: “I recognize this from TikTok” was one of the catalysts for this study, which aims—at least as a first step—to demonstrate how and which works (or, due to the media-specific format, excerpts from works) by Saint-Saëns are used on TikTok, how TikTok users react to works (or excerpts from works) by Camille Saint-Saëns (visible modes of reception), whether the digital aesthetic leads to greater reception, and whether general approaches to participation and outreach can be derived from an intrinsic engagement with Saint-Saëns on TikTok.
